Meta-Wiki has a small active community. When a normal user requires the assistance of an administrator or bureaucrat for some particular task, it is not always easy to find one. This page helps users find one when they need one; asking specific admins directly via their talk pages is one way to elicit a fast response. It is only for assistance required at Meta-Wiki, help for other wikis needs to be requested at those wikis.

Regarding global filter 241[edit]

This filter currently catches additions containing file://, often people trying to link a file from their computer in a page, like for example here. I was thinking that instead of merely logging it, it would be more helpful both for the projects and the people trying to add files this way, to trigger a warning explaining them what they're trying to do is not possible (and how to properly upload files). --KonstantinaG07 (talk) 13:28, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

@KonstantinaG07 we could set it to warn, however a custom warning won't work well because it wouldn't be translated to the hundreds of languages - meaning the contributor would get MediaWiki:Abusefilter-warning. Would that be better or worse? — xaosflux Talk 14:10, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ah, right, I had a custom one in mind but forgot translations are an issue here. I am now also not sure if it would be better or not. The ideal would be if these custom warnings were translatable of course. KonstantinaG07 (talk) 14:37, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Also noting that global filters do not support custom messages. If you try to save changes to a global filter with a custom message, you will receive an error. So unfortunately, we are stuck with the default MediaWiki:Abusefilter-warning & MediaWiki:Abusefilter-disallowed. XXBlackburnXx (talk) 14:45, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Right, that could be an issue. I am also debating with myself if any of these two actions would cause more good or harm, with the standard, not so helpful, message. --KonstantinaG07 (talk) 13:27, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Request for mass message sender[edit]

Hello, I'd like to request for mass message sender again, to send some messages for WPWP campaign. I previously had the right for around a year and have requested messages to be sent for me before. Thanks – Ammarpad (talk) 07:50, 2 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Done. EPIC (talk) 08:00, 2 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

I need Event Organizers User Right[edit]

Hello,

After talking with @Ainali I have currently assumed responsibility to lead online meetings for the WMSDG User Group, therefore I need the Event Organizers right so that I can handle registration. Thank you! Egezort (talk) 16:02, 2 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

I asked admins on my main wiki to block my accounts Discuție_Utilizator:Andrei_Stroe#contul_MSClaudiu and here one took action here. --MSClaudiu2 (talk) 16:35, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I did not find anything from my investigation, so I will contact Trust & Safety. Please email them as well at ca@wikimedia.org, and they will assist you. EPIC (talk) 16:59, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
It was not me. I am from Romania, the respective address seems to be from Russia. I have recently had problems with other accounts as well. I could not leave a message on your user page.--MSClaudiu2 (talk) 17:07, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, but like mentioned, if you have lost access to your account, please email Trust & Safety at ca@wikimedia.org and provide the relevant details, and they will assist you with regaining access if they find that your account is indeed compromised. EPIC (talk) 17:09, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

I sent an e-mail. I was busy and didn't see the emails with the change. Thanks. --MSClaudiu2 (talk) 17:16, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
